Inter Engineering launches F-Secure's Messaging Security Appliance Large Enterprises

New product restores employee productivity and frees up system resource overloads caused by spam.

F-Secure today announces the arrival of the F-Secure Messaging Security Gateway P-Series to help large enterprises combat spam, viruses, phishing, denial of service attacks and directory harvesting attacks. Developed in co-operation with Proofpoint, the leader in large-enterprise messaging security solutions, the Messaging Security appliance also helps enterprises to enforce outbound email policies, defend against leakages of confidential information and comply with email-related regulations.

The solution has been designed to provide large organizations with the most cost-effective, future-proof solution for messaging security, ensuring that only legitimate messages enter and exit the enterprise. High availability is ensured by redundant power supplies, network interfaces and storage components. The two gateway models now available can be easily deployed in any combination to support tens of millions of messages per day.

The new P-Series is highly scalable and can be easily deployed in industry-standard cluster configurations to support complex or geographically distributed data centers. The product architecture allows multiple agent gateways to be managed from a single master console. The product provides a centralized, 100 percent web-based administration interface for defining messaging policies, monitoring messaging infrastructure, reporting and configuring end-user controls.  At the same time an extensive set of predefined reports provide full visibility into the state of an enterprise messaging system.

The F-Secure Messaging Security Gateway appliances utilize the next generation in technology for email security taking automatic, corrective action using SMTP traffic control. Malicious connections are automatically blocked or throttled based on fully customizable mail traffic policies. The email firewall provides an impenetrable defense against a wide variety of network-level attacks thus keeping networks and email users safe while preserving network bandwidth.

Proofpoint's MLX Dynamic Reputation technology is the basis for the unrivalled anti-spam accuracy delivered by the Messaging Security Gateway appliance. Using MLX's machine learning capabilities, the spam detection module analyzes more than 200,000 structural and content attributes to accurately differentiate between spam and valid messages. Traditional anti-spam solutions evaluate only a limited number of attributes and are unable to decisively classify spam, leading to low effectiveness and a high rate of false positives. At the same time, F-Secure's award winning anti-virus technology provides the industry's most accurate protection against viruses. In antivirus, where speed is of utmost importance, F-Secure maintains record response times and sets the pace of development.

F-Secure Messaging Security Gateway P-Series appliances are immediately available in two different models the P600 and the P800.
