Presentation of Mr. Josmaarten Swinkels at the Athens Énternational Forum on Security (AIFS)
Inter Engineering supports the 2009 AIFS Conference with a presentation by its CEO and Security Specialist Josmaarten Swinkels, titled: “Biometrics as means of strong authentication. Will it grow or will it go?”
The existence of the Biometrics technology and its applications in the field are well known in the IT world and the majority of the general public. Nevertheless is the pace of market penetration of Biometrics as a means of strong Authentication much slower than the supporters of this technology expected some years ago.
Other methods of strong authentication like smartcards and tokens represent the solutions that are factually used today, whereas Biometrics is still considered as an exotic solution.
What are the reasons? Perhaps Biometrics does not offer the promised solution that was supposed to make all our lives more easy?
The hypothesis of the speaker is that there is a problem of acceptance due to erroneous or incomplete information of the public.
In his presentation Mr. Swinkels points out what are the misunderstandings that circulate, explains how Strong Authentication through Biometrics really works, for which applications Biometrics constitute a far better solution than other means of authentication and why this is so.
The conference will take place in the Conference Centre of the Greek-American Union in Athens on January 15th and 16th. Mr. Swinkels presentation will be held on January 15th, at 15.15 hours For more information: http://conferences.hau.gr/?i=aifs2009.en.home
