Shavlik Technologies announces patch management protection for critical  Mozilla Firefox security update

 St. Paul, Minn. (September 20, 2005) - Shavlik Technologies, LLC, a leading provider of security software solutions, announced that it has added support to correct a critical vulnerability found in the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser. Left unconnected, this flaw could allow attackers to take complete control of an affected system. The Shavlik NetChk product suite is the only commercial patch management solution available that can scan for and deploy this critical patch, offering strong protection against this threat.

The critical flaw in Mozilla's Firefox browser could allow hackers to remotely run malicious software on targeted computers. The vulnerability can be exploited if a user visits a malicious web page or clicks on a specially formatted web address. Deploying the patch disables the browser feature that contains this specific vulnerability.
