A dangerous
hoax, which seems to be sent by a known AntiVirus company, attempts to
lead the recipients into a trap.
Inter Engineering warns about a new hoax, which started circulating by
e-mail on 13th December. This email seems to be sent by a known
AntiVirus company, but in reality it has no relation with it and warns
against a “new worm” named Kongos.31XRW.Worm. It mentions that on 31st
December the worm will be activated, deleting the operating system and
BIOS of the infected computer. It also mentions that the AntiVirus
company has created a patch and urges the recipients to visit a link
and download it. Obviously this website does not belong to the
AntiVirus company, but to the attacker.

In case the victim visits the link he will be redirected to a
very good trap. If he downloads and installs the “patch” his pc will
get infected. Inter Engineering warns the recipients of the e-mail not
visit the web site or download the infected file.
