Protection against zero hour malware
The traditional method through which AntiMalware products detect malware, is by using virus signatures. When a new piece of malware circulates, the AntiMalware vendor receives a sample, analyses that, retrieves a signature from it and updates the Virus Signature Database of its installed base over the world. Using that signa-ture, the AntiMalware can detect the particular piece of Malware with 100% certainty.
Zero-Hour Malware is malware that already circulates on a large scale, but is yet still very new. So new that the AntiMalware vendors haven’t had the chance yet to do the above signature update. It can therefore not be detected through the traditional method based on signatures. Not being detected, Zero-Hour malware can successfully execute its payload, which is the intention of its creator.
