Warning for High Risk of Nation State Cyber Attacks

The developments of the current war in Ukraine have led to western countries deciding to enforce restrictive sanctional measures.

It should be taken seriously into account that these measures may provoke cyber attacks against Critical National Infrastructure.

One should hereby think of governmental instruments, financial institutes, energy production and distribution, health infrastructure, army and police, media, public transportation and possibly others.

These attacks should be expected to apply methodologies not used before and therefore hard to defend against by orthodox methods.

Depending on a multitude of influencing factors the attacks may occur for a considerable period of time. It is not impossible that this is the start of a new era.

Organizations (including those closely working with or for the abovementioned categories) are strongly advised to review both their protective measures as well as their remediation plans in case of falling victim of a successful attack.
